The outdoors as a contested leisure terrain

چکیده

In this critical commentary, we propose that ‘the outdoors’ is a contested leisure terrain both space for freedom, relaxation and enjoyment, and, at the same time, site of exclusion, hierarchy discrimination. We review some well-established benefits outdoor in relation to physical mental health, well-being personal development. However, these are not equally accessible all, with many groups individuals reporting feeling excluded from outdoors. Drawing on context UK, argue COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating divisions, as takes added significance during times lockdown. Nevertheless, suggest may also offer an opportunity rethink more inclusive ways.
